Even if McCain wins in November, he has lost. This past week’s vicious and factually devoid attacks on Barack Obama follow the legacy of the 2 Karl Rove-directed Bush campaigns. He’s already alienated perhaps half of the country, maybe more. If he wins, he’ll most likely have to face a hostile democratic majority in both the House and the Senate. Thus, if he wins, he still loses, because his presidency will an ineffective one. Better to be Michael Dukakis or Barry Goldwater than Jimmy Carter or Herbert Hoover.

Barack Obama - His parents divorced and he spent most of his formative years being raised by his mother, who at one time lived on welfare. Worked for everything he got.

This article is spot on, because McCain has been shown to have more of the negative traits associated with Paris Hilton than has Obama. But that is an insult to Paris Hilton, because McCain is a 72-year-old “statesman” who has been irreparably diminished by the nature of his presidential campaign and his tactics.
I have been saying for weeks that a Democratic-controlled Congress would not be forgiving of this ugliness in the campaign, and would make it extremely difficult for McCain to govern. So, if he does win, he will still lose–talk about a Pyrrhic victory!!
The country itself would be the biggest loser if he should win, both in terms of effective governance and in terms of international prestige (and therefore effectiveness on the international scene).
